SHILLONG: IGP BL Buam has asserted that there will be no more political interference in the recruitment of the unarmed Sub Inspector in the state police.

The statement came after State police came out with the results of the written exams for the unarmed Sub Inspectors late Monday night.

This time around, the authorities conducting the exams were too quick in declaring the results for the written examination conducted for the post on March 24.According to Buam, the entire procedure was quickened to ensure that there was no political interference in the recruiting process.

It may be mentioned that 2976 applications were received for the post out of which 1428 candidates appeared for the written examination and 351 candidates have been called for the interview round.

“While claiming that the authority would take all measure to ensure transparency in the recruitment process, Buam said, “ If there is any political interference we would have not other option but to spill the beans.”

The official also said that there were several calls from politicians when the answer sheets of the applicants were being checked in the DGP office on Monday evening.“The DGP is personally supervising the entire proceedings and I can vouch that there is no manipulation in the recruitment process, ’’ said Buam. The State Government altogether has sanctioned 149 posts for the unarmed Sub Inspectors in the state.

He also stated that they will soon come out with a system called Transparency in Recruiting Process (TRP) to ensure transparency in the recruitment process.
