SHILLONG: In an unusual case of overcharging passengers “beyond limit” by maxi cabs in the state, one Md Amir Ali was charged an exorbitant Rs3000 for travelling between Nongjri, West Khasi Hills to Shillong. The incident took place on Tuesday last.

The passenger boarded the maxi cab from Nongjri and on reaching Tyrsad, East Khasi Hills the driver charged him Rs3000 as fare, which the passenger paid.

However, on reaching Shillong, Ali argued with the driver for overcharging him following which the driver took him to Mawlai, assaulted and snatched cash of Rs45000 from him.
