TURA: A well-known felon who has served time in prison and was out on bail went on a killing agenda in the heart of Tura town on Thursday evening killing one person with a blunt weapon at Tura bazar after the latter allegedly tried to sell him narcotics at a higher price leading to an altercation.

The murderer, Tengsal Sangma, hailing from RC Road locality of Tura, was earlier jailed for the murder of another youth of Tura a year ago but had obtained bail.

This has raised serious concern as to how courts could grant bail to persons involved in heinous crimes who systematically went on with their life of crime. The prime accused in Thursday’s murder was a well known law breaker but yet authorities allegedly looked the other way until another crime was committed by the offender.

It may be noted that in a similar incident in Shillong, a wanted criminal, David Lyngdoh alias Phantom was re-arrested for the third time on charges of robbery and other related crimes, after having been granted bail earlier following his arrest in similar acts of crime.
