TURA: Acting on specific information about movement of two active NDFB anti-talks faction cadres in Tura, BSF personnel detained two women who were boarding a public transport bus for Dalu border town at Dobasipara on Friday afternoon and it was found that both were active militants who were preparing to cross over the international border.

The BSF personnel detained Anjani Brahma and Anju Basumatary from a bus that was proceeding to Barengapara border town close to neighbouring Bangladesh.

Shortly after their arrest the two women confessed to be senior cadres of the NDFB and had joined the outfit in 2008. Security force personnel seized Indian currency, mobile phones and incriminating documents from the two women.

Anjana Brahma who goes by the name of Angani Brahma (23) hails from Rupshi village of Gouripur in Dhubri district in Assam. She was trained in Myanmar along with 75 fresh recruits of the NDFB of which 25 were women. She belonged to the 30th batch of the NDFB and was active in upper Assam.

Her companion Anju Basumatary went by the name of Onzima (23) and hailed from Belsari village near Dekiajuli in Sonitpur district of Assam. She received arms training at Bolsori near Chittagong in Bangladesh together with 71 other cadrers including 14 women. She was also active in upper Assam.

Both the women confessed that they had planned to cross the international border on Saturday night and enter Bangladesh. They were to head to Dhaka from where they would have travelled to Khagrachari where the NDFB reportedly has a major camp.
