NONGSTOIN: A day after issuing ‘quit notice’, the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) members on Monday apprehended two suspected Nepali residents from two different locations — one from Rambrai and another from Nongstoin market.

The duo have been identified as Bishnu Rai and Mohammad Iqbal Rai

The NGOs recovered some amount of US dollar from Mohammad Iqbal Rai. He has been handed over to Nongstoin police later.

The HANM directed Bishnu Rai to leave Rambrai immediately.

When contacted, West Khasi Hills SP R Muthu said action would be taken against the organization which has issued quit notice. “No one the authority to issue quit notice to people just like that,” he said.
