Admin cancels license of fair price shop dealer

SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills (Supply) Sanjay Goyal has cancelled the license of a fair price shop dealer, Khriang Lamare for allegedly manipulating the distribution of Annapurna scheme to the beneficiaries under Mawryngkneng C&RD Block in East Khasi Hills district.

Khriang Lamare, who was appointed by the government as the fair price shop dealer for Mawryngkneng is for the past many years involved in manipulating the said scheme by not issuing the same to the beneficiaries.

The Supply Branch of DC office, Shillong has been allocating 40.10 quintals of rice per month to the Fair Price Shop Dealer meant to be distributed to over 400 beneficiaries at 10 Kgs per head per month.

Taking strong cognizance of the matter, the KSU Mawryngkneng Circle who met the EKH DC on Wednesday demanded the supply Branch to issue a notification to the accused to compensate the rights of the beneficiaries.

“This malpractice has been going on for long and we urge the concerned authority to take strong action against the accused as per law”, Mawryngkneng Circle president Wallambok Kharsati.

It may be reminded that BDO of Mawryngkneng Block, MS Sangma who unearthed irregularities in the implementation of the Annapurna scheme in the block, has also filed an FIR against the fair price shop dealer at Madanrting police station here on March 12.
