M’laya projects Rs 27,000 crore for 12th Plan

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Cabinet on Wednesday projected an outlay of Rs 27,000 crore for the 12th Five Year Plan Period from 2012-17.

The proposed outlay for the 12th Five Year plan sees a big jump of Rs 17,815 crore from the 11th Five Year Plan outlay of Rs 9185 crore.

Besides, the State Cabinet has also proposed an outlay of Rs 3535 crore for the financial year 2012-13.

It may be recalled that the annual plan outlay approved by the Planning Commission for the year 2011-12 was Rs 2727 crore.Speaking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said the plan outlay was prepared in consultation with the various departments of the State Government.

Dr Sangma also informed that both the proposals would be placed before the Planning Commission for final approval. “The government has done due diligence to arrive at the projected figures, but the proposals have to receive the approval of the Planning Commission,” Dr Sangma said. The Chief Minister also stated that the proposed amount will also help the State Government in implementing various flagship programmes besides other developmental programmes.
