SHILLONG: Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has admitted to lacunae in the government decision to allot land to State bureaucrats at the New Shillong Township at Mawdiangdiang.

Talking to The Shillong Times here on Sunday, Ampareen said, “There were some lacunae with regards to loss of revenue and the size of land that had been allocated.”

On the steps being taken to address the problem, she said, “I will seek the advice of the Chief Minister when he returns back to the State.”

It may be reminded that in the report for the year ending March 31, 2011, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India pointed out that, “Unauthorised allotment of land to the Civil Service Officers Housing Cooperative Society Limited and incorrect fixation of premium at a lower rate, resulted in undue financial benefit of Rs 78.42 lakh to the society, besides allotment of land in excess of the prescribed limit.”

The State Government is currently facing a storm over the CAG report with many NGOs demanding an immediate reversal of the decision.
