SHILLONG: The customers of BSNL mobile users in Sohra are having a harrowing time over the past three weeks now as they are running out of network. The customers complained that their mobile towers are down and that has caused them inconvenience as they are unable to connect with anybody.

A customer said that for the last three weeks there is no network and whenever a caller calls a BSNL number the only message that comes is “the number is switched off”. Another customer said that it has become unbearable for him to continue with the BSNL mobile number and he is planning to switch over to other private service provider. “The BSNL has to find out a permanent solution to this problem or what is the use of keeping a mobile connection,” he said who is residing near the RK Mission, Cherrapunjee.

A BSNL source said that network is not down for the last three weeks but there has been a lot a disruption over the past few weeks. “There is some road widening works going on there and because of the rain the cable got damaged as the workers who use JCB and other engineering equipment do not care for the underlying cables,” said the source. Informing that there are similar network problems also reported from Pynursla and areas till Cherrapunjee, the source said that BSNL workers have restored much of the faults.
