New Delhi: The new Meghalaya House in the national capital will be ready for occupation next month and will be formally opened for guests in June after inauguration, the State GAD Minister AL Hek informed on Wednesday.

Hek inspected the upcoming Meghalaya House in Delhi’s posh Vasant Kunj area and found that most of the ancillary facilities like water and electricity are ready. The building is complete and mandatory no objection certificates for facilities like sewer line and lifts have also been received, he said.

Even the completion or occupancy certificate has been already been submitted to the Delhi Municipal Corporation, the Minister said, adding that the State Government will take possession of the building within this month itself.

The total cost of the three-storied House is about Rs 25 crore. It will have 14 standard rooms and two large dormitories, one each for boys and girls. It will also have separate suites for the Governor and Chief Minister unlike the present one which has only one suite. There would also be enough parking space in the basement areas.

Centre takes note of city flash floods

The Centre on Wednesday asked the Meghalaya Government to prepare a DPR for protecting Shillong from flash flood which inundated parts of the city and its outskirts this week.

This was informed to GAD Minister AL Hek and Union MoS Vincent H Pala by Union DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar here on Wednesday. Ghatowar also informed the duo that there would be no dearth of Central funds for such projects.
