SHILLONG: The BJP Meghalaya Unit has castigated Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope for attempting to proceed on a foreign trip with his wife as his ‘Special Assistant’.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty also questioned the clarification from the Secretary of the State Legislative Assembly on the whole issue which has raised question on the morality of the man who is occupying the Speaker’s chair.

“What I would rather suggest our honorable Speaker is that he should visit Goa to understand how they can reduce the price of petrol by Rs 11, or Chhattisgarh to study how they have managed to become the best with regards to implementation of the PDS system,” he added.
