Senior scribe passes away

 Shillong: Senior journalist and former editor of A’chik Mikasal, the Garo newspaper Mathew R Marak passed away on Thursday due to a concussion he received late Wednesday.

Marak, fondly known as Mathew in the press fraternity, has been in the profession for the last 19 years now. He had worked as a reporter with the Meghalaya Guardian as well as the Athiram Weekly Newspaper between 1993 and 1998.

Matthew who was third in the family lived in Laitumkhrah with his sisters and nieces and nephews.

A body builder, cricketer and lover of sports, Matthew left behind three daughters and two sons.

His last rites will be performed on Saturday, while burial will take place at the Laitumkhrah Catholic Cemetery.
