SHILLONG: Braving the rain and the cold weather, the NCP Youth wing of West Garo Hills along with Chitoktak Youth Club and Chibragre S.H.G., on Wednesday organized a cleaning drive of Chibragre picnic spot so as to restore its serene beauty.

It may be noted that recently several hundred picnickers, based their spots on the venue where a huge pile of thrash were left behind unattended.

After the drive was over, several pits were overwhelmed with garbage and bottles.

The Youth members also delivered an awareness programme regarding cleanliness and hygienic ways of living. They also apprised the locals about alternative avenues other than jhum cultivation, which were leading to shortage of water in several parts of the region.
