NONGPOH: Firing fresh salvo against Shillong Congress MP Vincent H Pala, the ad-hoc body of the Jirang Block Congress Committee (JBCC) on Friday stuck to their stand that Pala has indulged in clandestine politicking by projecting a friend of his as a probable candidate from Jirang Assembly Constituency on Congress ticket by surpassing the Block Congress.

This comes as a rebuttal from JBCC’s adhoc body general secretary Klansing Lyngdoh to Pala’s statement in The Shillong Times that he did not project anyone as a candidate from Jirang Constituency.

Lyngdoh maintained that Pala has announced a friend of his from Jowai as a probable candidate in a meeting held at 9 Mer near Byrnihat on Sunday last.

On Pala’s claim of conducting meeting under the JBCC presidentship of former Jirang MDC William Mynsong, Lyngdoh wondered how Mynsong could conduct meeting as president when the JBCC body had already been dissolved on February 2 last and a new ad-hoc body under the leadership of Snomic Kalwing, former Jirang MLA, was constituted.

Reacting to Pala’s statement that the JBCC is not recognized by the MPCC, Ri Bhoi District Congress Committee Secretary and former KHADC chief Cleophas B Syiem said that Pala was only misleading the general public so as to conceal his clandestine politicking in Jirang Constituency.

Syiem also stated that the ad-hoc body under Kalwing was constituted as per convention of the body, while adding that all dossiers relating to the matter have been dispatched to the MPCC.
