Mumbai: Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag said it was a conscious decision to hand the bowl to Shahbaz Nadeem at the start of Mumbai Indians innings as the spinner bowled a sensational spell to lay the foundation of his team’s victory.
Nadeem accounted for both the openers — Richard Levi and Devy Jacobs — in successive overs to start the slide of Mumbai, who were all out for just 92, season’s lowest total.
“My bowlers did a fantastic job. The wicket had something for them. I feel the openers wouldn’t be effective against that kind of (spin) attack,” Sehwag said after his side won the match by seven wickets.
Nadeem gave away just 16 runs in his four overs.
Mumbai never recovered after losing both the openers. The host skipper Harbhajan Singh candidly said they were out of the game when they failed to put on even 100 runs on the board.
Nadeem, who was adjudged man-of-the-match, said he, “thoroughly enjoyed bowling in helpful conditions and was happy to contribute in team’s win.” (PTI)
