Six youths arrested on rape charges

JOWAI: Ladrymbai Police in Jaintia Hills on Tuesday and Wednesday arrested six youths for allegedly raping a teenaged girl in Ladrymbai area on Saturday last.

The arrested youths are between 18 to 23 years and identified as Riky Mongor, Sanju Sherpa, Roshan Raudh, Karma Kale, Aibor Dkhar and Amar Gurung all of Ladrymbai Dongwah. However, two others are still absconding .

Sources informed that on the fateful day Aibor Dkhar and Roshan Raudhb called the seventeen year old girl for a birthday party on Saturday evening where she was forced to consume beer.

“On seeing that Roshan and Aibor were consuming alcohol, the girl wanted to leave the place but Roshan dragged the girl to another room where he raped her and later Aibor also committed the heinous crime .

Later, Riki Mongor also forcibly dragged the girl to his residence where he and his five others friend raped her one by one.

“They threatened to kill the girl if she screamed for help”, sources said.

They also claimed to be members of the Village Defense Party (VDP) of Ladrymbai Dongwah and threatened to take the girl to Dorbar shnong accusing her of whatever they wanted.

The victim was allowed to go home the next morning before dawn.

The relative of the girl lodged a complaint with Ladrymbai Police only on Tuesday and the police promptly arrested all the named accused.

The members of the AJYWO-EJH, JYF-EJH and HNYF had also helped the police to arrest the alleged rapists.
