SHILLONG: The State police have asserted that operations against the outlawed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) will continue.

The statement came from the police chief N Ramachandran on the eve GNLA’s proposed 72-hour bandh in Ampati and Selsella area from Wednesday. The GNLA earlier gave a three-day deadline to the government to withdraw its forces engaged in counter-insurgency operations. According to Ramachandran, their demand for the withdrawal of security forces clearly indicates that the outfit is under tremendous pressure.

The police will intensify security in the entire area where the outfit has called for bandh, the DGP said.
