Complaint lodged against contractor

 JOWAI: The Meghalaya Border Area Development Director has lodged a complaint with Pynursla Police against one Dawsing Tynsong- the contractor who had constructed the collapsed foot bridge at Shnongpdeng in Jaintia Hills.

The foot bridge was newly constructed to link villages between East Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills. The bridge was constructed with a view to benefit the farmers of the nearby area.

Director, BAD, RM Kurbah lodged a complaint against the contractor who failed to comply with the instruction of the Engineer wing in connection with the construction of the suspension foot bridge.

The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs. 45.76 lakh over Umngot river at Shnongpdeng in Jaintia hills District. Just a couple of months after it was completed, the bridge collapsed due to substandard construction.
