‘Employers with many migrant workers should obtain license’

 TURA: The South Garo Hills District Administration has notified to all principal employers of South Garo Hills employing five or more interstate migrant employees to obtain a license with immediate effect from the Deputy Commissioner, Extra Assistant Commissioner or Block Development Officers.

South Garo Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Level Team, D D Sangma informed that under Section 4 of the interstate migrant workmen (regulation of employment and conditions of service) Act 1979, a principal employer of an establishment employing more than five interstate migrant workers is required to register his establishment.

While Section 8 of the Act requires the principal employer to obtain a license with immediate effect, he informed.
