NONGSTOIN: The Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Nongstoin on Thursday approached the Superintending Engineer PHE Western circle Nongstoin S.K.Blah to ascertain why the tendering process for the Nongstoin Urban Greater Water Scheme is being delayed.

As per the Synjuk statement PHED minister Shitlang Pale had laid the foundation stone for the project on December 7, 2011 in the presence of the then Chief Engineer H.Prasad. Both of them had assured the people of Nongstoin that the tender for the same would be floated within two months.

Four months have passed yet there is no sign of the assurance that was made. In this regard the Synjuk met the new Chief Engineer in March this year where it was again assured that the tender would be floated in April. With April nearing end the tender is yet to see the light of day.

While speaking to this scribe the Chairman of the Synjuk H.H.Marwein said that SE PHE and the Chief Engineer were accessorily complicating and delaying the floating of the tender.

According to the SE S.K.Blah and the CE S.K.Sun the scheme is not an accessible one for Nongstoin. They feel nongstoin is under populated for such a huge scheme. It may be reminded that the NUWSS is worth Rs.133,94,12,700.

The Synjuk refutes the Engineer’s claim on the basis that the scheme has already been sanctioned and the the foundation laid.

According to the Synjuk the CE and SE had sent a notification to the Government stating that Nongstoin was under populated for the scheme.

The Government, according to them had replied that the scheme was based on the census of 2001-11 and that it was accessible scheme for the water stricken town.

The Synjuk after the meeting decided to meet the Minister PHED Shitlang Pale next week to resolve the issues.
