Truck set on fire

 JOWAI: A truck bearing registration number AS01Q-2582 was set on fire by unknown miscreants near Green Hills Service Station (Petrol Pump) at Hynniawmer in Jaintia hills district in the wee hours Friday.

Police informed that the truck loaded with refrigerators, cushions, old tyres, medicines and others was proceeding to Ladrymbai from Guwahati, Assam.

“When the incident occurred, the vehicle was parked near the petrol pump”, a source said adding, “the truck was 75 percent damaged”.

The incident took place during the two day night road blockade called by the KSU, FKJGP, SSSS and HNYF in Khasi and Jaintia Hills district.

Though stray incidents during the night road blockade was not reported from other parts of Jaintia Hills, police on the first day picked up three FKJGP activists for interrogation and they were released the next day.

According to police, the three youths tried to burn tyres on the road at Soomer area.
