WGH admin on strict vigil for child labour

 TURA: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi has notified that employment of children below 14 years as domestic servants, in dhabas and restaurants has been banned. He informed that the Child Labour Act (Prohibition and Regulation)), 1986, prohibits employment of children below 14 years in hazardous occupations and permits only six hours of work in non hazardous occupations.

A District Task Force comprising of the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, L C Marak, the Superintendent of Police, the District Social Welfare Officer, Block Development Officers, the Medical and Health Officer, Chairman, Child Welfare Committee and Extra Assistant Commissioner, Tangchiring K Sangma has been constituted to oversee that the Act is put into effect. Any employer found guilty of an offence under this Act by the District Task Force will be punished with imprisonment and fine.
