Tura: East Garo Hills police shot dead a dacoit during an encounter on Saturday morning in Rongjeng area. The police came across a group of dacoits extorting money from coal trucks along NH 62 at 4 am leading to an exchange of fire. The dacoit identified as Titol Marak was shot dead while the other gang members escaped leaving behind one single barrel shot gun (SBML) and two country-made guns at the encounter spot.
