SHILLONG: Leadership Training Service (LTS) Shillong Region celebrated its Annual Day cum Talent Show 2012 in grandeur and gaiety on Sunday. The much awaited celebration began at 9:00 am at St. Edmund’s college auditorium.
The Chief Guest on the occasion, chairperson of Women’s Commission, Government of Meghalaya Roshan Warjri in her address invited the students to be leaders in the society. “We need leaders in different areas of life, be it at home, school, work places, locality, and an association like LTS offers us this wide range of opportunities,” said Warjri.
She implored the students to make use of the opportunity to become leaders. In her speech, she also said that to be leaders we have to be humble. She exhorted the students ‘to serve and not to be served.’
Fr. Manoj Churuliyil Sdb, the Guest of Honour in his speech asked the students to prepare themselves to be leaders. He quoted that ‘leaders are not born but made.’
In the morning there was a special ‘Fancy Fete’ organized in the college campus by the LTS members. A food fest and chance games were organized. Pricey prizes were given to the students who completed the game.The afternoon’s ‘Talent Show’ was a stunning display of various dance forms by the different schools. Those present had a valuable and inspiring peek into the talents of the students who enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing moves.
St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School bagged the first prize for the talent show followed by St. John Whitehall, Nongthymmai. St. Margaret, Laitumkhrah bagged the third prize.
