UDP wants christening of road after E K Mawlong

 NONGPOH: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has decided to demand the christening of the road from Lad Umroi to Thadrang in Ri Bhoi District after Late E K Mawlong who was the MLA of Umroi constituency and also the former chief minister in the year 2001.

The decision was taken in the Special General Council meeting held at Nongpoh on Saturday where they decided to demand accomodation of the candidates from Ri Bhoi district in the 6th MLP Battalion result which was declared last year.

The meeting also decided to demand immediate compensation for people whose properties were damaged by wild animals.

The Special General Council of the UDP held at Nongpoh also elected its new office bearers for Ri Bhoi District with Senior Advisers as S.R Moksha, former Mawhati MLA and J.D Rymbai, Jirang MLA, Adviser R.K.K Makdoh, former Nongpoh MDC and D. Kharkongngor from Umsning.

Mawhati MLA Donbok Khymdeit was elected president while three vice presidents were also elected namely P.K Lynser from Umsning, Lurshai Wahlang from Umsning, Tirot Sing Sun from Umroi, Secretary Turius Muktieh from Mawhati, Joint Secretary Tarson Nongkseh from Umsning, Victor Rani from Jirang, F.M Mawphniang from Umroi and Marsel Lyngdoh from Nongpoh, Finance Secretary Rayonald Kharkamni from Nongpoh, Treasurer Rona Khymdeit from Nongpoh, Auditor Gilbert Nongrum from Umsning, Stining Nongbri from Umsning were also elected.

Jenifer Joan Kylla was elected as Convener of Women Wing while for Youth Wing they elected Micheal Teron, Rayonald Kharkamni and Balajied Rani.It may be mentioned here that R.R Kynsai Makdoh and Rayonald Kharkamni joined the UDP after the merger of the KHNAM with UDP while Balajied Rani joined UDP after resigning from the Congress in Jirang.
