Inter-school cricket: Shillong Public, St. Xavier’s register wins

 SHILLONG: Shillong Public School defeated Jail road Boys Higher Secondary School by five wickets while St. Xavier’s School edged past Ruprekha Parishad by five runs in the 7th I.P. Das Memorial and 4th Babu Ondromoni Dkhar Memorial Cricket tournament organised at Cricket Ground, Polo on Monday.

In the first match, Jail Road Boys won the toss and elected to bat first. Shillong pUblic School bowlers were up to the task and restricted Jail Road to a modest 101 for the loss of 10 wickets in 17. overs. Chandrashekhar top scored with 28 of 31 balls while Basandorlang grabbed two wickets for nine runs of his four overs.

In reply, Shillong Public School eased to the target in 16.5 overs. Subroto scored 34 runs of 43 balls while Chanang took two wickets for the bowling side.

In the second match, St. Xavier’s School won the toss and elected to bat first only to be bundled out for a paltry 86 in 15.3 overs. Cicero top scored with 28 of 28 balls while Pritom retained excellent figures of 3 for 2 of his 2 overs. In reply Ruprekha Parishad fell short of the target by five runs. Cicero in an all round performance grabbed four wickets for his team.
