Landslide kills two

 NONGSTOIN: A landslide at Pynden Shallang killed two persons identified as Donkupar Kharbani (27) a truck driver and resident of Lawieng under Mairang and Stankor Nongreng (27) helper and resident of Laitdom Lawkynter recently. The truck they were sleeping in, bearing registration no DLI-9270, was also swept away in the landslide.

Sources informed that the incident occurred at 3.AM. Another person accompanying those killed, narrowly escaped.

Before the incident occurred, the trio were fast asleep inside the truck. People in the vicinity claim to have heard a loud bang at the time of the incident. The landslide swept the truck down to well over 200 feet. Owing to the inclement weather and the terrain, the truck is yet to be hauled up. The corpse of the duo were recovered with the help of a JCB.

The survivor is reported to be in a serious condition and referred to Nongstoin Civil Hospital. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the family members after post-mortem.
