SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) expressed deep anguish over the death of Dana Silva M. Sangma, niece of Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma.

“While we share the loss with Dana’s relatives, the KHNAM strongly supports the demand to take stern action against the erring officials of the said (Amity) university,” a KHNAM statement said on Tuesday.

“It is also common knowledge that people, especially students, from Northeast are being harassed in the metropolitans across the country. There are several genuine cases of racial discrimination, which only compound the sense of alienation from the country’s mainland,” the statement added.

The KHNAM hoped that the ongoing investigation into Dana’s death reaches its logical conclusion.
