Mukul seeks one more battalion

NEW DELHI: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has urged the Centre to send one more battalion of Indian Reserve Police to the State.

Dr Sangma placed this demand during his meeting with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram here on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister apprised Chidambaram about overall law and order situation in the State including in disturbed Garo Hill.

Without adequate, trained and armed police force it is difficult to control the extremists, Dr Sangma told Chidambaram.
