NONGSTOIN: Frustrated at the turn of events in Nongstoin, the KSU (West Khasi Hills District), West Khasi Hills Students’ Union (Central Body) and the FKJGP (West Khasi Hills) have jointly formed a Joint Action Committee with regard to the Nongstoin Urban Water Supply Scheme.

The Superintendent Engineer (PHED) Western Circle, Nongstoin S. K. Blah has in a way lost the trust of the people.

Earlier, the Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong Nongstoin area had visited the office of the S.E in Nongstoin and a heated debate ensued.

The S.E had then told them that he would do as he wished as he had the power to do so.

The Synjuk alleged that it has been revealed that the S.E is the person behind the delay in the Scheme’s implementation.

Meanwhile, the JAC shot-off a letter to the Minister PHED Shitlang Pale pointing out that Nongstoin was in dire need of a proper and sufficient water supply and that they could not act as mere spectators to this scarcity.

The Union unanimously decided to give the government two weeks time to float the tender or else action in this regard would be taken by them.
