SHILLONG: The Border security Force (BSF) has taken all precautionary measures to thwart any attempt by Bangladeshi nationals to enter India through the newly-opened border haat at Balat.
Informing this here on Friday, a senior BSF official said both the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF are following the standard operating procedure for the security at border haats and both the forces will follow the directives laid down in the SOP. It may be mentioned that trading activities at Balat border was started recently where traders and buyers from both India and Bangladesh converged. The Balat haat will be officially inaugurated shortly.
Lady police are also deployed in the haats to check the lady visitors, he said adding “an observation post has also been set up at the haat to keep a vigil.
