Kayamkulam, Kerala: In a strange incident, the sister of a bridegroom tied the nuptial knot to her brother’s bride as he could not arrive in time for the wedding from Gulf. The groom’s sponsor in Dubai failed to give him the necessary travel documents to leave the country.

Though the two familes of Kamalesh and Saikrisha had fixed the marriage for Thursday several months back, the bridegroom could not make it as his sponsor failed to send him the passport, though he was waiting at the airport.

Kamalesh, the groom, has been working in Dubai as a salesman for a super market for the last three years. He came on leave eight months back to see the bride following which the alliance was finalised.

Though Kamalesh informed his employees and sought leave for his marriage, his sponsors turned down the request stating he could not be givn leave again.

When Kamlesh’s sponsors turned down his request, he appraoched the Labour Ministry there. Following their intervention, the sponsor agreed to return the passport and other relevent documents, if Kamalesh paid 3000 Dirhams as compensation to the company.

Kamalesh paid the money following the agreement, but the sponsor’s representative did not turn up at the aiport to hand over the documents.

This forced Kamalesh to miss his wedding.

The two families then decided to take a bold step as they wanted to solemnize the wedding at the auspicious “Muhurat” as already decided. Kamalesh’s sister Kavitha tied the nuptial knot to the bride. After the marrige, the bride went to her husband’s house after Kamalesh promised her that he would reach home by Sunday, the family sources added. (UNI)
