SHILLONG: The expected regional Passport Office in Shillong is likely to be completed in the next two to three months.
Talking to The Shillong Times here on Thursday, Principal Secretary (Home) Passports, Hector Marwein said that the building is almost completed with the final touches being given
People in Shillong who desire to make a passport still have to visit all the way to Guwahati for obtaning their passport.
“We hope that the building will be completed in two to three months after which we will take over the building,” he added.
It may be mentioned that the passport office will be located at the old office of the Directorate of Sports which is being given a face-lift.According to Marwein, it will be a full-fledged passport office as all paper works will be done here but it will have to be sent to the passport officer in Guwahati for signature.The upcoming passport office in Shillong will largely reduce the burden from a passport applicants from Shillong who have to go all the way to Guwahati which is a time consuming and money wasting affair.
