SHILLONG: In yet another rape case, a 12 yr-old girl was raped by her father at Mawkneng near Sohiong in East Khasi Hills on April 23.

The girl was shifted to the Sohiong CHC for verification and doctors later found that the case was not yet registered with the police.

The doctors of the CHC immediately informed the concerned authorities of the act and the matter was then reported to the police by CSWO (A) who demanded immediate arrest of the culprit.

When the FIR was filed, the woman organisation did not know that the culprit was the father of the girl and later got the confirmation from the police.

“When I filed the FIR, I did not know it was the father but only known that the girl was raped”, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing told reporters here on Monday.

The culprit was arrested and the girl was given medical attention including counseling, police informed while refusing to provide the name of the father stating that this would affect the mental psyche of the child.

Meanwhile, the CSWO President also appreciated the work of the Mawngap Police outpost who have made instant arrest and also the good work of the doctor at the CHC Sohiong, who has informed authorities of such an act.
