Prohibition

The Deputy Commissioner of Jaintia Hills has informed that all educational and health institutions and organizations are prohibited from availing offers and participating in the programmes organized by companies producing infant food as these companies have been found operating in violation of the Infant Milk Substitutes (IMS) Act, 1992.

151st birth anniversary

Women’s College, Shillong will celebrate the 151st Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore on Tuesday. Professor Sanjoy Mukherjee, IIM, Shillong will grace the occasion as the Guest Speaker. The day will also be marked with a cultural programme.

MPCC

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee President DD Lapang has appreciated the church leaders, leaders of the civil societies, NGOs, students, youth and people from all walks of life for their wisdom and timely action which culminated in the withdrawal of the 300 hours bandh call in the entire Garo Hills region. The MPCC chief also extended his appreciation to the government for deployment of security forces which has instilled a sense of confidence in the minds of the people which had led them to take such a bold step.

Office bearers

The Dorbar Shnong Lama-Villa elected new office bearers for the term 2012-2015 with Erolton Lyngdoh as the Rangbah Shnong, Adreas Marbaniang as the assistant Rangbah Shnong, Riten Kma as the general secretary, Shembha Kyndiah as the assistant secretary, H Matlai as the sports secretary, Kingson Pariat as the treasurer and H Lytan as the adviser.

KSU

The KSU Lawsohtun unit has informed that the proposed programme of celebrating the 27th Anniversary of the KSU Lawsohtun unit and the result of the Lucky Draw scheduled to be held on May 12 has been rescheduled for June 2 at Magarett Barr Memorial School Lawsohtun Block VI.
