London: Legendary singer Whitney Houston’s family have hired a round-the-clock guide to patrol her grave in case robbers try to target 300,000 pound jewels she was buried with.

Shortly after her funeral, an armed guard was temporarily hired to patrol the 48-year-old’s grave. But the threat of grave-robbers is still very real as the late singer’s family have now requested security guards keep watch over Houston’s resting place on a more permanent level, reported Daily Mail.

A guard was seen patrolling the site at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey today.

Houston’s family reportedly hope to eventually have her casket encased in cement to prevent access to robbers for good.

“There is a very genuine fear that her coffin will be targeted by grave robbers. It would be hard for them to actually dig her casket up, but that won’t stop psychotic fans or people who think it could make them money. The fact she was buried with such valuable jewellery is just an invitation to sickos,” a source said.

The “I Will Always Love You” singer, who died on February 11, is said to have been buried in a gold lined casket worth upwards of 10,000 pound and wearing a diamond brooch and earrings.

The star was found dead in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills Hotel suite, with the cause of death confirmed as heart attack and accidental drowning. (PTI)
