Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today warned that his government would not compromise on Law and order and those responsible to defame the government would be punished.
Reacting sharply to the statements of police officers in Muzaffarnagar recently, the CM made it clear that if they had spoken in the manner shown by the media then action would be taken against them.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of annual teachers thanksgiving function here, Mr Yadav said his government was serious on each and every law and order incident and would not spare anyone found guilty whether it involved any policeman or politician.
Recently, DIG of Saharanpur in Muzaffarnagar Satish Kumar Mathur had said on camera that family members should shoot the girl who eloped with her boyfriend. The remark had drawn wide criticism and the National Commission for Women(NCW) has demanded action against the DIG.
Mr Yadav said he had convened the district civil and police officials on May 18 to review the law and order situation in the state.
The CM, however, also suggested the media to highlight the action or steps taken by the government to improve the law and order situation in the state.” If you circulate such stories, it will help the state to control the situation as the criminals and others would get warning that the government means business,” he further added.
The Chief Minister said the people fully supported SP to form the government and in no way the voters should feel ditched.”Its our promise to give the people a clean and honest governance besides fulfilling all the sops assured during the elections,”he said.
When he was asked about the lowering the minimum age for getting the Unemployment allowances, Mr Yadav said the process was being formalised and the clear picture would emerge during the budget session of the assembly, likely to start from last week of this month. (UNI)
