Islamabad: The US Embassy today categorically rejected an op-ed article’s claim in a Pakistani daily that Ambassador Cameron Munter had met Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed.

“Ambassador Munter has never met with Hafiz Saeed. No US official has made any promises to, or agreements with, Hafiz Saeed,” said a statement issued by the US Embassy.

The statement was issued in response to an op-ed article in the Urdu daily Jang titled “For how long?”, that claimed Munter had met Saeed, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attack and founder of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba. (PTI)
