West Khasi Hills athletic meet concludes

NONGSTOIN: The 19th West Khasi Hills District-Level Inter-School athletic meet, which got underway April 9, concluded on Friday at the Nongpathar Stadium at Nongstoin.

The overall champion’s award was bagged by St Peter’s HSSchool, Nongstoin.

In the Under 14 (Boys) category, Vivian Roger Marwein of J.K.R.P Sec School Mawkyrwat was adjudged the Best Athlete. In the same age category for the Girls, Ibarisuk Wanniang of St Peter’s HSS Nongstoin was awarded with Best Athlete trophy.

In the Under 16 (Boys) category the Best Athlete award was bagged by Bhapyrkhat Nongphud of St Peter’s HSS Nongstoin. In the Girls category Therina Myrthang of Lurmangkara UPS Risiang won the Best Athlete title.

In the above 16 category, Teibor Kharlyngdoh of J.K.R.P Sec School Mawkyrwat Rishailin Jyrwa of Jakrem Pres Sec School Mawkyrwat was judged the Best Athlete for boys and girls.

The Best Team Award for the Boys was bagged by Jakrem Pres Sec School and St Peter’s HSS Nongstoin won the Best Team for the Girls.

S Kharlyngdoh, Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills district attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Altogether 17 schools participated in the month-long meet.
