The Amazing Spider Man to release in India before US

New Delhi: ‘The Amazing Spider Man’, the latest film in the Spiderman series which also features Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan in a key role, will hit cinema screens in India on June 29, a week before the film’s release in the United States, it was announced here last evening.

A fresh reboot of the Spider Man franchise, ‘The Amazing Spider Man’, made in 3D, stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhy Ifans and Irrfan.

Incidentally, the film will release in nearly 1000 cinema screens across the country in four languages- English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, a spokesperson of the Sony Pictures- The worldwide distributors of the film- announced at an event to announce their Summer line up which also includes Hollywood biggies like ‘Men in Black 3’ and ‘Total Recall’.

The release of ‘The Amazing Spider Man on 1000 screens will be the biggest release for a Hollywood film in India in recent times, the spokesperson said.

The Sony Pictures Summer line up begins with ‘Men In Black 3’, which hits screens on May 25. The third in the popular Hollywood series, ‘Men In Black 3’, which will release in 3D, goes back in time with the original pairing of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones and the addition of Josh Brolin. This will be followed by the release of ‘The Amazing Spider man’ on June 29, to hit screens both in 3D as well as 2D.

The Summer ends with the release of a remake of the 1991 blockbuster ‘Total recall’ with Colin farell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel, which hits screens in India on August 3.

The action, however, does not stop with the end of the Summer. Releasing later in the year will be much awaited Hollywood films ‘Resident Evil:Retribution (3D), ‘Premium Rush’, ‘Hotel Transylvania’ and the the latest Bond film ‘Skyfall’.

While ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ releases in 3D in India along with its global release on September 14, ‘Skyfall’, the 23rd film in the Bond franchise will release in India on November 2, one week before its release in the US. Also releasing this year will be the Hollywood film ‘Sparkle’, starring Jordan Sparks and featuring the last film appearance of the late Whitney Houston.

Further, some exciting Hollywood films are planned for release next year which include Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio. Also slated for release next year is the sci-fi drama ‘Elysium’ starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. (UNI)
