Housewife murdered

 SHILLONG: A pregnant housewife identified as Roba Devi was allegedly beaten to death by her husband Joginder Shah at Mawbah (Barapathar) locality of the city on Tuesday.

According to CSWO, the pregnant woman was beaten by her husband on Monday night and thereafter taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.

The matter came to light on Wednesday when the CSWO informed Jhalupara police about the incident but the women was already cremated by the time police reached the spot.

Meanwhile, the police have field a suo moto case and have detained her husband. “We are investigating into the matter from all possible angles,” police said.
