Shillong lad makes it to junior natl soccer team

 SHILLONG: Shillong lad Kyntiewshaphrang Kharlukhi has been selected to represent India in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-14 Boys’ Soccer Festival at Kathmandu, Nepal which would be held from May 16-25.

Informing this here on Wednesday, Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) youth development cell convener, Sunesh Syiem, said that before his selection to the national team, Kyntiewshaphrang had taken part in the trial-cum-selection camp held in January last at Kalyani, West Bengal.

It may be mentioned that Kyntiewshaphrang is being groomed at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre, Shillong.

Syiem informed that there are two more players – Shaiborlang Kharpran and Rupert Nongrum – who are currently attending the selection trial for the national team. Shaiborlang is attending the selection trial for the Under-17 national team while Rupert is attending the trials for the Under-16 team in Goa. Both Rupert and Shaiborlang are part of the Shillong Lajong FC junior team.
