 TURA: Over 15,000 people attended the Garo Hills State Movement Committee (GHSMC) rally demanding a separate state for Garo Hills in Williamnagar on Friday last.

General Secretary of GHSMC, Augustine R Marak said that a separate state is the answer to bring long-term peace in Garo Hills and it is the duty of every A’chik individual to support the cause. “The fight for a separate state has disturbed Garo Hills for many years and the Central Government has not been able to come up with an enduring solution till date” he said.

Among others who attended the rally are Withnal D Marak, MDC of Amongpara, All India Garo Union Advisor, D Momin and President of GNC, Cliforth R Marak.
