SHILLONG: The NCP state unit has geared up to garner support for its leader Purno A Sangma to stake claims for the post of President.

NCP spokesperson and party legislator James Sangma on Tuesday informed that the NCP state unit will hold a meeting here on Saturday to be attended by all the party legislators, MDCs and members to frame plans for Purno’s campaign.

“Since Purno Sangma is one of the founder members of the NCP the central party leadership should consider supporting him,” James said, adding that the party would also appeal to political parties in the State to support Purno’s campaign.
