SHILLONG: The breakaway faction of the Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) has issued a ten-day deadline to the 24 legislators of Garo Hills to look into the woes of the common people including water supply and constant power failure in Garo Hills.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the ANVC (B) said, “If no solution is worked out in 10-days’ time than we will take a very strong stand against the elected leaders.”

According to the outfit, Garo Hills remain without power and water for days together which adversely affects people from all walks of life.

“All elected representatives should look into these problems seriously and work out a permanent solution to alleviate the woes of the people,” the outfit added.

The breakaway faction also warned that if these problems are not addressed by the legislators they would not be allowed to enter Garo Hills.

“No solution, no entry and we will also initiate black flag protest,” the outfit added.

The group has also warned individuals who are reportedly demanding huge sum from the locals in the name of the outfit.

“We are against such acts. We vow to take action against such miscreants if we get information about anyone who is demanding money in the name of the ANVC (B),” the outfit stated, while asking people to bring any such matter to their notice.
