Tuki urges to uphold state’s peace tag

Itanagar: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has urged the people of Arunachal Pradesh to uphold the peace tag the state has been carrying with it since it attained statehood status.

‘Our state has been known maintaining peace and tranquillity and we must preserve it at any cost,’ he said at a public rally at Tirbin West Siang.’If we are united and honest in our approach and thoughts, we can easily overcome the negative element that is trying to divide us and create disharmony for their own personal benefit’.

The Chief Minister also said government alone can not meet such challenges and urged the people to be a willing participant in maintaining peace and communal harmony which are essential for development.

Elaborating on various initiatives by the state government, he talked of soon-to-be launched skill development council and employment generation council, Mr Tuki saying these would help the unemployed youth.

He assured complete administrative reform through on e-Governance and said it will not only inform the public about government’s various welfare activities but also will ensure total transparency.

While appreciating people of Basar constituency for their intensive agriculture and horticulture, activities, he hoped that the coming Trans-Arunachal Highway will augment the farmers in marketing their products in other parts of the country.

Responding to six-point public memorandum, Tuki assured to sympathetically look into the demands which included construction of township road, development of tea-estate, constructions of bridge over Rimi and Sibi rivers and renovation of school hostels.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Urban Department’s Shopping Complex at Basar and told the administration to give preference to youths and women in allocating the shops.

Speaking on the occasion, Lok Sabha MP Takam Sanjoy said the proposed creation of Lower Siang district is on cards but indecisiveness on the district headquarters remained a hurdle. He suggested tripartite consensus between the state chief minister and both the Likabali and Basar MLA’s to solve the impasse. (UNI)
