SHILLONG: Garo Hills has plunged into darkness yet again since Sunday morning due to a fault in the 132 KV transmission line at Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills.

Since there is no power project in Garo Hills, power is transmitted through the 132 KV transmission line from Mawlai in East Khasi Hills, which caters to the entire three districts of Garo Hills.

Power Minister AT Mondal said that power supply was disrupted from 6.50 am on Sunday due to fault in the line at Nongstoin and added that men are at the site to rectify the problem.

Since the line passes through hilly and jungle terrain in Garo Hills, there is constant disruption of power to Garo Hills.

The situation worsens during Monsoons coupled with lightning and thunder.
