World Environment Day

The Khasi Jaintia Labour Union (KJLU), Byrnihat & Nongpoh Circle will organise World Environment Day from June 1-5. The event will kick start at Community Hall, Nongpoh and culminate at Nongrim Presbyterian School, Byrnihat. The closing ceremony will be attended by Union Minister of Water Resources Vincent H Pala. The Pynthorumkhrah Assembly Youth Congress Committee will also celebrate World Environment Day on June 5 at 10am at Golf Club, Shillong.

Tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika

Hope, an event management group will organise a musical event titled ‘Jajabor: a tribute to Dr Bhupen Hazarika’ on June 3 at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati to pay homage to the legend who died on November 5 last year. A large number of musicians are expected to ensemble in the cultural programme with an aim to register the event in the Guinness Book of World Records.

50 paisa coins

In continuation to the statement given by DC, East Khasi Hills regarding availability of coins in Shillong, the State Bank of India, Shillong Branch has informed that 50 paisa coins are also legal tender and are available in plenty for distribution to public at large.

Health camp

Roko Cancer Charitable Organization is organizing a Mega Health cum Cancer check-up camp on May 30 at Oakland Community Centre from 9:30am to 2:30pm to generate awareness and empower the citizens of Shillong to fight against cancer.
