Deficit school teachers call off agitation

Shillong: The teachers of deficit schools in the state has decided to suspend their agitations after they received a notification from the government stating the disbursement of salaries of the higher secondary school teachers from March to May this year.

The deficit teachers under the banner of Khasi Jiantia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) in their meeting held here on Wednesday has decided to temporarily suspend their protests as the state government managed to respond to their demand within the one-week deadline served by them to the government recently. Kular has also asked the government to release the remaining amount from January till March. “We urged the government to release the 30 percent arrears besides our salaries at the earliest”, Khongjirem said failing of which they will be forced to resort to other form of agitations.
