SHILLONG: The Independent legislators who are supporting the Congress-led MUA Government are seeking Congress ticket to contest the upcoming 2013 Assembly election.

Rongram Independent legislator Ismail R Marak informed that he has already sought for a Congress ticket to contest the upcoming election from Dadenggiri constituency.

“The final decision for awarding me the ticket lies with the Congress party high command,” Marak said here on Friday.

Besides Marak, it is also learnt that Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal (Independent) has also expressed his keenness to contest the upcoming election on a Congress ticket.

Sources however, informed that Mondal is keeping his options open.

“If the Congress does not allow the ticket, Mondal would again contest from Phulbari constituency on an Independent ticket,” sources said.
